Main Components Of Articulated Self Loading Mixer
Chassis and Articulated Frame
The chassis and articulated frame are the core support of the construction vehicle: the chassis bears the entire vehicle weight and provides a stable platform, with four-wheel drive compatible with different power systems; the articulated frame is divided into front and rear sections, enabling flexible turning, allowing the articulated self-loading mixer truck to maneuver and work with agility.
Drive System
Includes the engine, transmission, drive shaft, differential, etc. Features a reinforced sealing structure that can withstand dust and mud erosion, allowing the articulated self loading transit mixer to maintain stable driving power even under heavy load mixing conditions.
Mixing Conveying System
The mixing drum adopts a tilted design with a volume ranging from 1.8 to 4.0 cubic meters. The internal double spiral blades can continuously and uniformly mix the materials while maintaining a stable rotation speed.
Hydraulic Power System
The engine (mostly diesel engine) serves as the core power source to provide energy support. The hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor convert the power into operations such as the rotation of the mixing drum and the lifting of the loading hopper. And the hydraulic oil tank and pipelines are responsible for delivering stable oil pressure to each hydraulic component.
Loading System
The feeding system uses a hydraulic folding hopper and a double hydraulic cylinder lifting mechanism. The loading hopper is equipped with a shovel structure that can directly scoop up sand and gravel. The lifting arm is driven by a hydraulic cylinder to lift the loading hopper and pour the material into the mixing drum.
Water Tank System
The water tank supply system usually consists of a water tank, water pump, pipes, and control valves, which can add water to the mixing drum and control the ratio in conjunction with a water meter.
Driving Control System
The independent cab features a centralized control console, steering wheel, joystick, instruments, and monitoring equipment, enabling integrated operation of vehicle and work functions. It also has a high-definition display screen that can show reverse images and work monitoring images.
How Does An Articulated Self-loading Mixer Truck Operate?
Aggregate Loading Stage
The articulated mixer truck enters the aggregate pile area, and the front hydraulic folding hopper unfolds and lowers to the ground. The front hydraulic folding hopper uses the lifting arm to directly scoop up aggregates such as sand, gravel, and cement, which are then poured into the drum through an inclined chute. The vibrating screening system automatically filters out oversized particles, while the load cells continuously monitor the loading volume. Once the pre-set value is reached, the loading process automatically stops.
Chassis Steering Adjustment
During loading, the front and rear chassis are connected via a hinged joint. Based on actual site conditions, the articulated self loading mixer can adjust chassis balance in complex construction sites. Combined with the four-wheel drive system, it can operate flexibly in narrow construction sites, winding alleys, and other complex terrains.
Concrete Mixing Stage
The water supply system adds the set amount of water to the mixing drum, and the hydraulic system drives the mixing drum to rotate. The double helical blades mix the materials evenly. At the same time, the articulated frame can buffer ground bumps and reduce the risk of material segregation.
Transportation And Unloading
When unloading, the flexibility of the hinge design enables the vehicle to adjust the unloading Angle within a confined space and precisely align with the construction point. The mixing drum reverses to pour the concrete through the adjustable-angle discharge chute to the required position, allowing for continuous pouring or discharging while traveling. The control system in the cockpit synchronously controls driving, steering and unloading, and the flexible maneuverability of the hinge runs through the entire process.
Full-steer and Semi-steer Articulated Self-Loading: What Are the Differences?
♦ Full-Steering Articulated Self-Loading Mixer
EPDAS’s full-steering articulated self concrete mixer series is designated as QC, with capacities ranging from 2.6 to 4.0 cubic meters, classified as high-performance models. The primary feature is that the cab can steer in tandem with the front chassis of the mixer drum, ensuring the driver’s field of view aligns with the drum and front wheels during turns, providing a more direct and expansive view. Additionally, it primarily employs a combination of four front and two rear high-pressure vacuum tires(4+2), offering robust chassis load-bearing capacity.
The full-steering self mixer truck has a smaller turning radius and excellent maneuverability. It performs outstandingly in narrow construction sites, curved roads, and mountainous construction, and has high driving stability, reducing the risk of scratches caused by insufficient steering.
♦ Semi-Steering Articulated Self-Loading Mixer
EPDAS’s semi-steering articulated self loading mixer machine series model is QB/Q, with specifications ranging from 1.8 to 4.0 cubic meters, classified as a standardized type. The main feature is that only the mixing drum can rotate, while the cab is fixed to the front chassis, though the steering angle is limited.
The QB series primarily uses a tire configuration of four front tires and two rear tires(4+2), while the Q series primarily uses a configuration of two front tires and two rear tires(2+2). Semi-steering mixer trucks offer a driving experience similar to ordinary construction vehicles, with simpler wiring and a more convenient structure. They are suitable for large-scale construction sites and projects primarily involving straight-line driving.
Advantages of Articulated Self Loading Concrete Mixer Machines
Superior steering flexibility. The front and rear bodies are connected by a hinged structure, which, in conjunction with a full or semi-steering system, enables a small turning radius and flexible adjustment in confined spaces, greatly reducing the restrictions imposed by the site on work.
Superior multifunctionality. The articulated self-loading mixer can perform loading, mixing, transportation, and unloading functions simultaneously, eliminating the need for separate loaders, concrete mixers, and transport vehicles, thereby reducing equipment investment costs.
Superior adaptability. From urban construction to rural development, articulated structures can cushion ground bumps. Combined with four-wheel drive systems, they have a higher tolerance for road conditions on muddy, steep slopes, potholes and other surfaces, and can maintain continuous operation.
Superior operability. The cab control system allows one-button operation of the mixing drum speed, loading, and unloading actions, reducing the difficulty of manual operation. Only one person is needed to operate the entire vehicle, effectively reducing the workload of the construction team.
